چکیده

ABSTRACT The near-infrared spectra of active galactic nuclei (AGN) present emission lines different atomic and molecular species. mechanisms involved in the origin these AGN are still not fully understood. We use J- K-band integral field six luminous ($43.1\lt \log L_{\rm bol}/({\rm erg\, s^{-1}})\lt 44.4$) Seyfert galaxies (NGC 788, Mrk 607, NGC 3227, 3516, 5506, 5899) local Universe (0.0039 < z 0.0136) to investigate gas excitation within inner 100–300 pc radius at spatial resolutions a few tens parsecs. In all galaxies, H2 originates from thermal processes with temperatures range 2400–5200 K. high-line ratio (HLR) region H2/Br? versus [Fe ii]/Pa? diagnostic diagram, which includes 29 per cent spaxels, shocks main mechanism, as indicated by correlation between line widths ratios. diagram (64 spaxels) is due radiation. ii] produced combination photoionization radiation five dominated 788. Science with NIFS, Australia's First Gemini Instrument

The Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) will be Australia's rst Gemini instrument. NIFS is a near-infrared, imaging spectrograph that will be used with the ALTAIR facility adaptive optics system on Gemini North to perform near di ractionlimited imaging spectroscopy over a 3:0 3:0 eld-of-view with 0.1 wide slitlets and a spectral resolving power of 5300. NIFS will operate in the wav...

AGN Zoo and Classications of Active Galaxies

We review the variety of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) classes (so-calledAGN zoo") and classification schemes of galaxies by activity types based on their optical emission-line spectrum, as well as other parameters and other than optical wave-length ranges. A historical overview of discoveries of various types of active galaxies is given, including Seyfert galaxies, radio galaxies, QSOs, BL Lace...

Spherical Accretion in Nearby Weakly Active Galaxies

We consider the sample of weakly active galaxies situated in ’Local Universe’ collected in the paper of Pellegrini (2005) with inferred accretion efficiencies from 10−2 to 10−7. We apply a model of spherically symmetrical Bondi accretion for given parameters (MBH ,T∞,ρ∞,) taken from observation. We calculate spectra emitted by the gas accreting onto its central objects using Monte Carlo method ...

The NICMOS snapshot survey of nearby galaxies

We present “snapshot” observations with the NearInfrared Camera and MultiObject Spectrometer (NICMOS) on board the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) of 94 nearby galaxies from the Revised Shapley Ames Catalog. Images with 0.2 resolution were obtained in two filters, a broad-band continuum filter (F160W, roughly equivalent to the H-band) and a narrow band filter centered on the Paα line (F187N or F19...

Evolution of Star Forming and Active Galaxies in Nearby Clusters

We have used optical spectroscopy to investigate the active galaxy populations in a sample of 20 nearby Abell clusters. The targets were identified on the basis of 1.4 GHz radio emission, which identifies them as either AGN or galaxies forming stars at rates comparable to or greater than that of the Milky Way. The spectra were used to characterize the galaxies via their emission and absorption ...
